English and English Language Art
English 10These are three lesson plans that were designed to have students build connections between information that is offered and how we choose to perceive that information. The media, book and movie industry rely on people making these connections so that they make connections with characters and circumstances because this is how they hook and elicit empathy from the viewer/reader for the stories provided. When taught to my peers, lesson one was very successful and provided a great deal of context for examining propaganda.

English 30This is an entire unit of lessons that has been created to include lesson plans from the National Film Board of Canada. The poets explored in this unit include Earle Birney, Al Purdy, P.K. Page, and Leonard Cohen. Within this unit I have infused First Nations and Métis content and have tried to balance feminine and masculine perspectives. The lessons and essential questions fall in line with the required Saskatchewan curriculum for grade 12 students. Within each lesson there is an audio, video and visual component to encourage students with different learning strengths. The poems and poets provide a broad perspective of the Canadian landscape in terms of locale, religion, lifestyle and world views.
